Club.Keswick Club promises a unique golf experience. Featuring the signature topography of central Virginia, Keswick provides peaceful seclusion on the course. There are no starters, course marshals or even set tee times at Keswick. The course is only open to club members and hotel guests, and the small capacity of the accommodation guarantees the privacy that many of us are seeking on a golf vacation. Originally opened in 1939, Keswick was upgraded by the Arnold Palmer Design, who redesigned the greens, added numerous sculpted bunkers, but leaving much of the original routing intact. The result is an old style golf course with a modern look. Measuring 6307 yards, Keswick actually plays longer and is more difficult
than its re-sloped 130 would indicate. The fairways are fairly tight but
forgiving, the greens are fast, and tall grass will catch you on occasion.
Ball placement, precision and club selection are paramount on Keswick.
Don't be daunted however; the classic layout is suited to players of all
levels. There are several tees, and some are elevated, giving you a little
extra lift. Keswick features some of the best-conditioned greens on East
coast. There are also spectacular views from almost every hole. Simply
stated, this course offers an experience that you don't come across very
often: challenging and interesting golf, privacy and wonderful scenery.
Keswick Club is a Certified Audubon Sanctuary. ![]()
Keswick Hall, an Orient Express Hotel, dominates the hill overlooking the course. It presents more of a private residence atmosphere, like a country estate with Italian-inspired architecture and elegant landscaping. The friendly staff will make sure that your every need is catered to upon your arrival. All 48 guest rooms and suites feature different themes and décor, similar to what you'd find in a 19th century colonial mansion but with all the modern amenities. In addition to golf, you can enjoy golf on one of the five clay and hard surface courts, swimming, the exercise room, complimentary bike rentals, croquet, fresh water fishing, equestrian activities and even hot air ballooning (pre-booked). The on-site spa is a full service facility offering numerous treatment packages for your rejuvenation. Dining at Keswick is nothing less than what you would expect from the finest restaurants and resorts. |
